Featuring:
The River Teviot and the Slitrig; Hawick's bridges, and Gothic-inspired architectural features; also its beautiful gables, and towers.
The town has become known for extreme flooding in recent years, which prompted the delivery of a new flood defense scheme. Work began in 2020, and was finally completed in 2025.
Some of the watercolours in The Magic of Hawick depict these new flood defences going up, with workers in high-vis, standing in the middle of the Teviot and Slitrig rivers.
